Relocating to Milford, DE -pros and cons?

Hello, Just moved here 16 months ago and Poverty rate is 14.6%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $274,600 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (West) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 48, moved here 1 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Old Town and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Indian places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to LA it's tough.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
