The median home value here is around $269,900, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Milford Mill sits at 1,338.5 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Seattle about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Cedar Grove for 5 years. Moved from San Diego for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is tough - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
