Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 27,495, Mililani Town is a smaller city. Median household income is $124,123, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $884,800 on average. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in South for 7 years. Moved from Minneapolis for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is decent - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Homeless population growing downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
