Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 4.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Mill Creek sits at 79.6 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What do you all think? Appreciate any input. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
