With a population of 1,245, Mill Neck is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The dating scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

I'm a pharmacist and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I'm a HR manager and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Nashville it's improving.
