First time home buyer in Millbrook

Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $193,600 on average. With a population of 16,923, Millbrook is a small town. The median home value here is around $193,600, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $64,522, which feels about average for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
Worth the trade-offs? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Riverside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
