The good and bad of living in Milledgeville

Hello, We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 32.7%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $184,400 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $184,400, which is actually reasonable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Houston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
