Best hidden gems in Milledgeville

Been meaning to ask this. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Household incomes average around $59,688 in Milledgeville. Homes are going for about $89,200 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Milledgeville sits at 105.8 per 100K. The median home value here is around $89,200, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 7.6%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Friendly people
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 11 years. Moved from Seattle for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Can feel isolated. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 11 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
