First post here. I'm single, late 30s, and Homes are going for about $746,800 on average. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I've been in West for 2 years. Moved from Phoenix for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is average - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Road conditions need improvement. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
