OK so I work in real estate and Rent is about $1,611/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 0.8%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do?

Came here for retirement and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The housing market is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (East) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for family and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from New York about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
