What I wish I knew before living in Millstadt

Random thought, I work in tech and It's a a small town city with about 4,013 people. Rent is about $1,110/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $205,400, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 9.4%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Nashville it's pretty good.
