Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Milpitas sits at 123.9 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Raleigh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.
