Things Milpitas needs to improve

OK so I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Milpitas sits at 123.9 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What would you do?

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much pricey but now it's pretty good.
