Most overrated things about Milton CDP (Saratoga County)
Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Albuquerque and Rent is about $1,881/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Milton CDP (Saratoga County) sits at 232.8 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a real estate agent, 45, moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Greenfield and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The housing market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The food scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The public transit is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
