So, Homes are going for about $896,500 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this? TIA! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in Eastside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cost of living scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Lakewood area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
