Alright, You can expect to pay around $902 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. Median household income is $53,552, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $902/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Charlotte about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 10 years. Moved from Portland for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is average - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited entertainment options. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Minneapolis it's underrated.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much affordable but now it's better than expected.
