Unpopular opinion about Milton

Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 6,582, Milton is a small town. Median household income is $53,552, which feels on the lower side for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Phoenix about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in retail here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
