Moving to Milton -what should I know?

First post here. The median home value here is around $210,500, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $210,500 on average. Rent is about $940/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 5,685 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Midtown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The safety is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
