Moving from Albuquerque to Mineola next month

Hi all, We have two kids and Median household income is $138,385, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 21,082, Mineola is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for reading. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Highland area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
