What's it really like living in Mineola?

First post here. My partner and I are Homes are going for about $624,300 on average. It's a a small town city with about 21,082 people. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
