Hey folks, Been living here since 2005. Any advice would be great. TIA! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I'm a accountant and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much affordable but now it's hit or miss.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in tech here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is underrated. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 28, moved here 5 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Limited shopping options
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
