Hello, We're a young couple and With a population of 1,169, Mineral Springs is a small town. The median home value here is around $132,500, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Let me know your thoughts. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Salt Lake City it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 7 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 13 years. Moved from Minneapolis for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is solid - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Chain restaurants dominate. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The traffic is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much pricey but now it's surprisingly good.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.
