Anyone else love living in Mineral Wells?

OK so With a population of 15,130, Mineral Wells is a small town. The median home value here is around $146,100, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Mineral Wells sits at 147.9 per 100K. Rent is about $1,004/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 13 years. Moved from San Francisco for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is solid - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited shopping options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
