Why I chose Mineral Wells over bigger cities

Been meaning to ask this. I work in healthcare and Median household income is $54,210, which feels on the lower side for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Raleigh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
