Is it worth buying in Minnetonka?

Longtime lurker here, Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to.

I'm a chef and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is average and there's always something going on.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much competitive but now it's solid.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 6 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
