Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Nashville it's underrated.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much established but now it's decent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
