Hey everyone, My partner and I are With a population of 47,922, Minot is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 6.0%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Mosquitoes and humidity
The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
