Hello, Been living here since 2016. Rent is about $1,613/month for a decent place. Median household income is $72,492, which feels about average for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Oak Park area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 5 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
