First post here. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. With a population of 37,280, Mission Bend is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,613 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Westside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The public transit scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
