Raising a family in Mission -thoughts?

Curious what people think. You can expect to pay around $1,181 for rent here. With a population of 9,928, Mission is a small town. Rent is about $1,181/month for a decent place. Median household income is $74,396, which feels about average for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Mission sits at 25.1 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good schools
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..
