Mission is underrated, change my mind

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $160,800, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 16.1%, which is higher than I expected. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. Median household income is $60,813, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks for reading. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in manufacturing here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is excellent. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Atlanta it's better than expected.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Thai places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
