What I wish I knew before living in Mission Viejo

Hey everyone, You can expect to pay around $2,713 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Mission Viejo sits at 68.1 per 100K. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. Thanks in advance! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The public transit scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
