Best restaurants in Missoula?

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 4 months ago and The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Missoula sits at 411.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $65,329 in Missoula. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much wild but now it's decent.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 33, moved here 10 years ago from New York. I've lived in Highland and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cultural scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
- The school system scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
