First post here. We have two kids and Rent is about $1,120/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Would love some local perspective.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 46, moved here 15 years ago from New York. I've lived in Westside and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The walkability situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
