Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm single, late 50s, and It's a a smaller city city with about 75,234 people. You can expect to pay around $1,908 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
