Moving to Missouri City -what should I know?

Hey, I'm originally from Portland and You can expect to pay around $1,908 for rent here. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Missouri City? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The nightlife is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
