Mobile is underrated, change my mind

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $170,300, which is actually reasonable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Portland about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..
