Most overrated things about Modesto

Hey, The median home value here is around $415,600, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Riverside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is tough

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
