Moenkopi is underrated, change my mind

Hi all, Just moved here 3 months ago and With a population of 1,028, Moenkopi is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? Cheers. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 12 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Uptown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
