Healthcare options in Mokena?

Hello, Rent is about $1,405/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 12 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 3 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is solid - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Far from beaches/mountains. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
