What's it really like living in Moline?

First post here. I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $141,900 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Strong sense of community
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

No regrets on my end..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2021 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
