Worst things about Moncks Corner nobody talks about

Hi all, I'm retired and Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The safety is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
