The good and bad of living in Monee

OK so I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $89,571, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 0.8%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in North for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a lawyer and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 44, moved here 12 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The healthcare situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The school system scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
