So, Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Monessen sits at 990.5 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Bought a house here in 2017 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely improving and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
