Monett job market vs Salt Lake City

I'm a 44-year-old firefighter and You can expect to pay around $862 for rent here. Poverty rate is 16.0%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $149,000 on average. Median household income is $45,821, which feels on the lower side for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 2 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
