Freelancing from Monroe -experience?

I'm single, late 20s, and It's a a smaller city city with about 35,596 people. Median household income is $67,265, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What are your go-to spots?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Raleigh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..
