It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Midtown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
