Longtime lurker here, I'm single, late 30s, and It's a a small town city with about 15,024 people. With a population of 15,024, Monroe is a small town. Rent is about $1,575/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.
