Moving to Monroe for work -advice?

Household incomes average around $107,556 in Monroe. The median home value here is around $594,300, which is pretty steep. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Worth the trade-offs?

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Mediterranean places. it was the best decision I ever made.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in North for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The community vibe scene is improving

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Austin it's surprisingly good.
