Raising a family in Monroe -thoughts?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $184,400 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
